AXIA Pharmaceutical Issues Recall for Injectable Drugs
AXIA Pharmaceutical has recalled many of its injectable drugs due to contamination.
Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - FUSION IV Pharmaceuticals, Inc., dba AXIA Pharmaceutical has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of a large number of injectable sterile drugs due to potential contamination. According to the company's statement, the recalled products are "inconsistent with federal guidelines."
According to the statement, the company has not received reports of adverse effects from the use of the recalled products. However, "Administration of a drug product intended to be sterile that is not sterile could result in serious infections which may be life-threatening."
The recall is the second medical recall issued within a week due to sterility issues. Cardinal Health has issued a recall of many of its sterile gowns and surgery packs due to potential contamination which occurred at a Chinese manufacturing facility.
